Belvédère des Rouleaux
The Rouleaux lookout, permanently open and freely accessible, was built by the Kléber-Moreau company. It offers a panoramic view of the quarry and the Gâtine Poitevine landscape. Interpretation aids enable visitors to explore the site independently, covering the different stages in the production of quarried aggregates and their applications. Founded in the 1930s by Marcel Moreau, the quarry now covers over 120 hectares in Mazières-en-Gâtine and Saint-Marc-La-Lande, and employs around 50 people. Aggregate production, shipped by rail or road, supplies the markets of Western France. Guided tours are scheduled every summer (see L'Homme et la Pierre program) or by appointment all year round.
